CAMERON SASAI

A BOLD VOICE FOR CONTRA COSTA DEMOCRATS

Representing Democrats of Contra Costa County, District 1: including Pinole, Richmond, El Cerrito, San Pablo, and the unincorporated communities of El Sobrante, North Richmond, Montalvin Manor, East Richmond Heights, Tara Hills, Kensington & Rollingwood.

“As the youngest elected official in Contra Costa County, I understand the importance of building the bench, ensuring that we are investing in our youth and getting them politically & civically engaged—this is part of how we secure a more progressive and inclusive future for all of us in District 1.”

Pinole Vice Mayor Cameron Sasai

MEET CAMERON

A lifelong resident of West County, Cameron grew up with our community and now gives back to the city that raised him. After attending Contra Costa College and DVC, he graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelors degree in Political Science - Public Service in 2022 and was elected to the Pinole City Council in the same year, making history as their first Filipino-American and youngest councilmember. He currently serves as Vice Mayor for the City of Pinole and sits on numerous regional committees in Contra Costa County.

In his first year in office, Cameron has taken action to advance economic development and affordable housing, support small businesses, stand up for our tenants, and transition our community into a sustainable, clean energy future.

Cameron continues to fight to support candidates who fill gaps in representation, challenge the status quo, and build unity to produce results for everyday people. In 2023, the Democratic Party of Contra Costa County recognized him with the “Young Democrat of the Year” award. He has served in the Democratic Party in different capacities including:

Alternate, Democratic County Central Committee, District 1

Vice Chair, Democratic Party of Contra Costa County - Endorsements Committee

Delegate, California Democratic Party

Equity Director, Contra Costa Young Democrats

Past Member, Davis College Democrats

ISSUES

1

Keeping Contra Costa County Blue

When we organize, we win. I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that Democrats get elected in Contra Costa County—and build the coalitions necessary to get the job done.

2

Prioritizing the Most Vulnerable

The fight for living wages & the right to unionize, safe streets & housing for all, and racial, economic, & environmental justice need to be addressed. I will consistently support candidates for office in District 1 who will take action on these issues and move bold, progressive policies.

3

Recruiting and Mentoring

Representation matters, and I am committed to recruiting Democrats from diverse backgrounds to run for office and challenge the status quo when elected.
